A community driven token fighting for the Justice of HONEY the bear. Honey, a 27-year-old black bear and longtime resident of the Holtsville Ecology Center in Long Island, New York, was euthanized on November 22, 2024, after suffering a stroke that left her partially paralyzed. Animal advocacy groups, including Humane Long Island, allege that Honey endured years of neglect at the center, citing untreated dental issues and chronic urinary tract infections. They also claim she was confined in an inadequately sized enclosure and exhibited signs of stress, such as repetitive swaying behaviors.
