Polygon Labs has extended its Open Money Stack payments toolkit to Solana, giving businesses one integration for bank funding, wallets and payouts. The move follows a Tron rollout earlier this month and comes as Solana and Tron both report trillions of dollars in stablecoin transfers this year.
Polygon Labs brings its payments toolkit to Solana
Polygon Labs is bringing its Open Money Stack to Solana, according to Decrypt and Cointelegraph. The toolkit lets a business on the network accept funding from bank accounts, issue embedded wallets and send payouts through a single connection.
The Block covered the launch in a short headline and summary. It said Polygon added Solana to its payments platform, which connects businesses to funding from banks, transfers between chains, stablecoins and payouts around the world. Decrypt added that Kira, a cross-border payments firm, is among the first adopters.
The integration problem the stack is meant to solve
Decrypt described a familiar obstacle in crypto payments. Sending tokens is the easy part, Decrypt said. Funding a wallet from a bank account, converting the money and landing it in a recipient's bank typically requires several separate providers. Each one brings its own integration work and its own contract.
According to Decrypt, Open Money Stack bundles those steps behind a single technical integration and a single commercial relationship. Businesses can take the whole system or add single components to what they already run. Polygon Labs CEO Marc Boiron told Cointelegraph that customers and payment flows are already spread across networks, and that companies do not want to pick one chain or assemble a separate bank, wallet, routing and payout vendor for each.
Decrypt gave an example of the intended flow. A remittance provider could accept dollars from a sender, send USDC over Solana and link the recipient to a payout into a bank account.
Key figures behind the expansion
The numbers reported by the outlets show why Polygon is chasing stablecoin rails beyond its home network.
- Cointelegraph, citing Token Terminal, reported about $5.76 trillion in stablecoin transfers on Solana between Jan. 1 and Oct. 27.
- Over the same period, Tron recorded $6.94 trillion in stablecoin transfers, per the same Token Terminal data.
- Decrypt, citing the Solana Foundation, said stablecoin volume on Solana this year has passed $5 trillion.
- Cointelegraph reported that Polygon closed its Coinme acquisition, and the US payments business now holds 37 money transmitter licenses and 11 state exemptions, which together span 48 states.
- The Grid cataloged 478 companies and 261 projects in the Solana ecosystem last year, according to Cointelegraph.
- Cointelegraph reported that Polygon's Trails service has handled transfers linking Solana with Ethereum-compatible networks since August.
Where the outlets' accounts differ
The reports agree on the core announcement but differ in emphasis and in some details. Decrypt quoted Sandeep Nailwal, co-founder and CEO of the Polygon Foundation, on the banking problem facing fintechs. Cointelegraph relied on Boiron, who leads Polygon Labs, and on Vibhu Norby, chief product officer at the Solana Foundation.
The stablecoin figures also come from different places. Decrypt used a Solana Foundation figure of more than $5 trillion, while Cointelegraph used Token Terminal's roughly $5.76 trillion through Oct. 27. The two are consistent in scale, but they are not the same measurement.
Only Cointelegraph placed the launch in sequence. It reported that Tron support arrived earlier this month and that Boiron said customer demand and stablecoin activity drove both decisions. It also said that, for eligible uses, the wider stack was previously offered on Polygon, Ethereum and other EVM networks. Decrypt instead noted that the platform can route and convert funds across Polygon, Ethereum and Tron. It also said Solana recently introduced a settlement standard for institutions, developed with input from J.P. Morgan, and launched its Alpenglow upgrade.
Why the Solana and Tron pairing matters
Polygon has now added the two networks that Cointelegraph's Token Terminal data shows moving the most stablecoin value among those it named. Tron's $6.94 trillion exceeds Solana's roughly $5.76 trillion for the period. DefiLlama separately lists Solana's DeFi total value locked at $5.66 billion and Tron's at $5.55 billion, so the two chains look closer on locked capital than on payment throughput.
That gap hints at what Polygon is pursuing. The stack is aimed at payments and payouts rather than DeFi positions, and it gives Polygon a role in business flows that may never touch its own chain. Readers following fresh Solana projects can check new Solana listings on Coinvote to see which teams are entering the network.
The Coinme deal supports the same direction. Licenses covering 48 states give Polygon's US payments business regulatory reach that a purely technical bridge does not provide.
What to watch after the announcement
Several details remain unreported. None of the outlets gave pricing, volumes processed through the stack or a count of businesses beyond Kira. Boiron's reference to "eligible uses" also leaves open which businesses and regions can actually use the full set of bank, card and cash routes.
Teams considering the stack can check three practical points: which funding routes apply to their market, which networks their payouts must reach, and whether they want the full package or only individual modules. Whether Solana-based firms adopt it widely, and how it fares against the separate providers it aims to replace, will only show up in later usage reports.

FAQ
What is Polygon's Open Money Stack?
It is a suite of services that connects bank accounts, crypto wallets and payouts, according to Cointelegraph. Decrypt reported that businesses can use all of it or add single pieces to existing systems.
Which networks does Open Money Stack now support?
Cointelegraph reported that, for eligible uses, the broader stack was previously offered on Polygon, Ethereum and other EVM networks. Tron support came earlier this month, and Solana is the latest addition.
Who is using the Solana integration?
Kira is named as one of the first customers by both Decrypt and Cointelegraph. Cointelegraph described it as a provider of US dollar accounts and stablecoin-based cross-border payments for businesses.
