U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs have shed a net $386.3 million during the first seven trading sessions of October, Ether funds have lost money nine days running, and Solana funds are also in the red. The turn follows a roughly $3 billion Bitcoin inflow run in September and a record 14-week Solana inflow run.

Bitcoin funds erase a strong start to October

According to Decrypt's ETF tracker, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs ended their first seven trading days of October in net outflow territory. The month had opened well, with $292.6 million flowing in across Oct. 1 and 2 and another $118.8 million arriving on Oct. 6.

The reversal came in the middle of the week. Decrypt reported withdrawals of $484.9 million on Wednesday, the weakest day for the funds since June, followed by $244.1 million on Thursday. Friday brought a modest recovery of $21.1 million, which left the month's total firmly negative.

The October flow figures in one place

The three fund groups differ sharply in size, yet all of them are negative for the month. Decrypt's tracker reports these totals.

  • Bitcoin ETFs: net outflows of $386.3 million in October, with cumulative net inflows since launch of $57.6 billion and total net assets of $100.6 billion.
  • Ether ETFs: $635 million lost in October and nearly $700 million across the nine-day streak, with cumulative net inflows of $13.2 billion and total net assets of $14.5 billion.
  • Solana ETFs: a $24.8 million net outflow in October, a fifth straight day of withdrawals on Friday, and cumulative net inflows of $137.9 million.

Ether funds stretch the losing run to nine sessions

Ether ETFs shed $56.1 million on Friday, Decrypt reported, which extended their run of daily outflows to nine trading days. The heaviest single exit in that stretch was $201.9 million on Oct. 6.

Oct. 6 is also the session on which Bitcoin funds took in $118.8 million, so the two products moved in opposite directions that day.

Solana funds lose a record inflow run

Solana ETFs are far smaller than the other two groups, and their October losses are correspondingly modest. Decrypt reported a $3.8 million outflow on Friday, the fifth straight day of withdrawals, which took the month's net result to a $24.8 million loss. The only inflow all month was $1.3 million on Oct. 2.

The Block put the longer view in its headline: the Solana funds snapped a record 14-week inflow run. Its summary adds that spot Bitcoin, Solana and Ether ETFs all recorded weekly outflows after last week's trading. That short summary does not say how large the weekly Solana outflow was.

Where Decrypt and The Block agree, and where detail runs out

The Block's item is available only as a headline and a one-sentence summary, so only a few points can be set against Decrypt's full report. Decrypt counts nine straight trading days of Ether ETF outflows through Friday, and The Block's headline, published on Oct. 10, uses the same nine-day figure.

They differ mainly in time frame and depth. Decrypt tracks daily and month-to-date flows with amounts for each fund group, while The Block frames the picture weekly and gives no amounts in its summary.

How September's rebound frames the October reversal

Decrypt sets the October weakness against a very different September. It links heavy outflows in mid-September to a failed Senate cloture vote on the Clarity Act, after which Bitcoin ETFs recorded nine consecutive inflow sessions worth roughly $3 billion. That run brought the year's cumulative flows back above zero.

ETF flows draw attention because fund shares trade like stocks and track the asset's price, so money entering or leaving is visible each day. Decrypt describes the flows as a reliable gauge of current sentiment. Neither outlet ties the October moves to a specific cause.

Decrypt says the Oct. 6 inflow was not enough to offset the selling that followed it.

What to watch after the October reversal

The reports leave several questions open for the coming sessions.

Separately from fund flows, Coinvote's new Solana listings page shows 85 projects listed over the last 30 days, and its new Ethereum listings page shows 12 over the same period.

  • Whether Bitcoin funds return to the daily inflows that opened the month or repeat the midweek pattern.
  • Whether Ether funds extend the streak beyond nine days or record a day of net inflows.
  • How large the Solana outflows become now that the record inflow run has ended, a figure The Block's summary does not quantify.
